Happy Birthday, Preston!
Since Preston is now in Indiana, we celebrated a week early during Sunday dinner. We had "Better Than Golf" cake (my mother-in-law makes the best "Better Than..." cake) and sang.
After so much rain, we appreciated the gorgeous, clear evening.
Monday and Tuesday were spent packing, and Tuesday evening the Elder's Quorum and some family came to help us load up the U-Haul. Boy was it a trick.
Wednesday morning, we were up bright and early to make sure everything was ready to go, and then we enjoyed breakfast with family.
As people started saying goodbye, Luke got sad and cried a little. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he could tell this goodbye meant something different than typical goodbyes.
Preston is pretty sad he'll miss the birth of Lauren and Clay's new baby boy. We're grateful for the internet and our easy access to those far away.
As tough as this goodbye was, we both held it together pretty well. Man I miss him. I can't wait to get out to Indiana. I'm living with Jana (Mark is traveling east with Preston), and she has been more than kind and hospitable. But boy do I want to snuggle up with Pres.
Mark planned out quite the adventure for the two of them as they traveled east, and though they are exhausted, I think they'll both be grateful for the times they stopped to enjoy sites. (Liberty Jail, Nauvoo, Carthage Jail, Cubs game.)
Good luck, studhubs! See you soon!
